Rules & Information

  1. Entry Information: A $10.00 entry fee/ head will be required to enter the show. All juniors who enter the Regional Show will be required to register with Aksarben for additional pen space needed for entries not exhibited in the Aksarben Stock Show.
  2. Market Lamb Entry: New for 2019 - Market Lamb Show. Dorset and Dorset Advantage Divisions. Entries may be ewe lambs or wethers. Ewe lambs can choose to show as EITHER a market lamb OR a breeding ewe. (not both) All market lambs must have Continental Dorset Club registration papers (including wethers).
    • Weigh Cards: Exhibitors will submit weights of all market lambs (an official weigh-in will not be conducted). Weigh Cards must be completed and turned in during the designated check-in time and location. The weight listed on the card will become the animal's submitted weight. This official weight will be used for class assignments and for weigh-back purposes.
    • Weigh Backs: Show officials reserve the right to weigh back any market lamb. A 5% variance above or below the submitted weight will be allowed. Animals not meeting the 5% variance to the submitted weigh will not be eligible for any awards or premiums.
  3. Eligibility Requirements:
    1. Exhibitor must be a current member of the CDC whether in the youth enrollment program or as a lifetime member. Membership will be checked at check-in. CDC Junior membership applications will be available at the show for exhibitors that are not yet members. Completed applications and a $5 enrollment fee must be submitted at check-in.
    2. Exhibitor needs to be 21 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current year. There is no lower age limit but the exhibitor must be able to lead and/or control the head of his/her animal in the show ring.
    3. Exhibitor must be present to show their own animals unless physically impaired. The junior owner will need to be at the head of the animal controlling it in the show ring, unless of course they have more than one entry in a class in which case another junior exhibitor showing their second animal is acceptable.
    4. Sheep must be registered in the youth’s name. Youth partnerships are acceptable except for futurity animals, which must be in the individual youth owner’s name ONLY. Farm names or family ownerships are not acceptable.
    5. Exhibitor can show at an unlimited number of regional junior shows per year, the CDC does prefer they at least show at the regional show in which they reside if possible.
